How are domestic violence and gambling related? The connection between gambling and non-physical abuse such as financial abuse.

Economic abuse- what it is, how current practices enable it, and raising awareness of it.

How do we improve awareness of the issue, develop screening tools and building skills?

OBJECTIVES: 1) Understanding THE connection between gambling and domestic violence. 2) Being able to state an understanding of implementing screening tool. 3) Understanding non-physical forms of abuse such as financial and social abuse.

Presenter Bio: Patricia Jirovetz is a Licensed Art Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor and Internationally Certified Gambling Counselor. Patricia currently works private practice at Creative Calm Counseling LLC in Oshkosh and In-Patient Behavioral Health at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. Patricia has been involved with the WI Council on Problem Gambling for over 10 years as a helpline responder, Board member, and President of the Board of Directors. She has facilitated various gambling workshops as well as co-facilitated Phases I-IV. Eduction is important so Patricia has worked with Drug Free Communities of Fond duLac County to co-sponsor the Start the Conversation 5K Run/walk as well as promoting the National Problem Gambling Screening Day in March.
