The annual Minnesota Conference on Problem Gambling.

We have a wonderful lineup of presenters who will cover a wide-range of issues pertaining to problem gambling. This year we’re trying a free hybrid model. As much as we wish we all could meet in person, this allows us to increase our outreach without any barriers.

All sessions are being recorded. Anyone registered will have access to the recordings until December 16, 2022. CEUs will be provided for each of the sessions you attend personally or virtually.

From Gambling to Gambling Disorder – A Clinical Perspective – Session 3

Session 3 OBJECTIVES:

-Identify, discuss and explain multiple categories of humanness issues and factors that can have impacts on and be components of working with gambling, problem gambling and gambling disorder.

-Identify, discuss, explain and compare/contrast the involvement of humanness issues and factors on individuals involved with gambling, problem gambling and gambling disorder.

-Explain, discuss and offer examples of the changes in and impacts of the internet on gamblers and the world of gambling.

-Compare and contrast different definitions of gambling in various US States, other countries, multiple individuals/websites/organizations and then support attendees to decide on how they will define the term gambling for themselves and for integration into their clinical work with gambling/problem gambling/ gambling disorder. *Must provide proof of Session 1 and 2 completion.

20th Ohio Problem Gambling Conference-Virtual
Feb 7 – Feb 9 all-day

Problem Gambling Network of Ohio & Ohio for Responsible Gambling invite you to attend the 20th Ohio Problem Gambling Conference. Celebrating two decades of problem gambling support services in Ohio, this year’s theme reflects on our history of problem gambling support services while looking to the future as we prepare for the impact of legal sports betting and beyond. The conference will consist of a two-day virtual pre-conference on February 7 & 9 and a two-day in-person conference on February 23 & 24 at Nationwide Hotel & Conference Center in Lewis Center, Ohio.

Through lecture-style presentations, the virtual pre-conference will focus on bridging the gaps in Ohio’s service system. The first day of the main conference will allow attendees to apply learned skills in a collaborative environment through workshops led by experts in the field. In preparation for the launch of legal sports betting, the second day of the conference will be formatted as a summit where attendees will engage with panelists from across the field to prepare for sports betting’s impact on Ohioans.

CEUs for the conference and pre-conference are pending and will provide up to a total of 20 CEUs through the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board, Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage & Family Therapist Board, and International Gambling Counselor Certification Board.

Scholarships for attendees with prevention certifications as well as for those in recovery are available.

Attendees can choose to attend the virtual pre-conference only ($50), attend one day of the main conference including the pre-conference ($125), or attend the entire conference as a whole. Early registration for the entire conference is $150 and closes on December 30, 2022. Starting in January, the cost to to attend the entire conference will go up to $175. 2. Identifying the similarities/differences in SUD and gambling disorder
3. Identifying current/emerging gambling trends (sports betting, online gambling, cryptocurrency) and what we all need to be paying attention to

Creating awareness of the challenges in prevention, treatment and research.The Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School of Addiction Studies, provider #1487, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School of Addiction Studies maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period:11/22/2020-11/22/2023. 2023 CCGP Statewide East Conference

– Problem gambling among the LGBTQ+ community and why this community be at a higher risk of developing gambling related issues

– Bringing awareness to the presence and severity of gambling disorder among military service members and veterans and to provide a personal story of addiction.

– Applying the SAMHSA Strategic Prevention Framework to problem gambling among the general, as well as specific, populations
