Webinar: Growing Trends in Gaming and Gambling and Today’s Emerging Adults

Dan Trolaro will explore the growth of gambling, specifically sports betting and risk of progression toward developing a gambling problem. We will discuss what makes college students vulnerable, discuss brain development, highlight similarities and differences with substance use disorder, identify warning signs, and make note of resources available while sharing his lived experience with gambling addiction.

Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling 24th Annual Conference – “Celebrating 30 Years Through Awareness, Education, and Prevention”

Host: Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling

Our 24th Annual Statewide Problem Gambling Conference is scheduled for March 16-17, 2023, at The Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Our goal for the conference is to bring together various groups from all areas of the state including tribal and state representatives, counselors, therapists, educators, and criminal justice personnel to strive as a unified community to lower the number of negative statistics associated with problem gambling.

30-Hour Basic Training for Problem Gambling: Day 1 OAPGG

As the opportunities for gambling continue to increase through avenues such as online gambling and gaming and sports betting, the risk that an individual will develop a gambling problem increases as well. As a care provider, you may be working with someone who is struggling with gambling.

OAPGG offers a 4-day online 30-hour basic training for problem gambling twice per year. This evidence-based basic training course is designed to help counselors, peer support specialists, and others in building an understanding of gambling addiction. In this training, you will learn about gambling history, gambling technology, the theoretical basis for treatment, co-occurring disorders, multicultural issues, assessment tools, treatment modalities, and more.

Training includes:

12 consultation sessions included at no cost
Prep class for those taking the IGCCB exam or state certification
(There will be fees associated with the IGCCB exam or state certification. Check with your state for credentialing requirements; basic information is listed at the bottom of the page.)
Resources and workbook for counselors

Problem Gambling Advocacy Day at the Texas State Legislature

Members of the Texas Coalition on Problem Gambling Board will visit legislators and their staff by appointment to increase their awareness of problem gambling in Texas and ways to improve the availability of prevention, treatment & recovery services.
