Problem Gambling Treatment Manuals

Promoting responsible gambling is a team effort between people who gamble, operators, regulators, legislators, advocates, and the media. These resources are meant to help key stakeholders implement and advance policies that safeguard against problem gambling.

Screening Standards Manual

NCPG’s Screening Standards Manual offers a non-exhaustive review of problem gambling screening tools and resources. We address the rationale behind screening, common clinical barriers, effective screening strategies, and more. Though our manual is not a substitute for professional medical advice, it is a strong starting place for identifying signs of gambling disorder.

This manual is not intended to offer direct clinical advice and therefore it should not be viewed as a substitute for professional medical advice and should not serve to delay you from seeking and/or recommending treatment because of something you have read the manual.

Gambling Assessment Manual

If screening for gambling disorder is positive and the person seeking help is willing to move forward, a comprehensive assessment is the next step. The Gambling Assessment Manual will help you determine the severity of a person’s gambling disorder within their social context and better understand the relevant psychological, mental, emotional and cognitive factors.

This manual is not intended to offer direct clinical advice and therefore it should not be viewed as a substitute for professional medical advice and should not serve to delay you from seeking and/or recommending treatment because of something you have read the manual.
