We believe it’s crucial to advance diverse perspectives on problem gambling. Here, you’ll find events hosted by leaders, researchers, clinicians and advocates from a wide range of communities and backgrounds. Many of our trainings also offer gambling-specific CEs!
The Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board has a Code of Ethics for Prevention Professionals as well as a Prevention Scope of Practice, which are different from other disciplines. This training will review, discuss, and apply the requirements in order to ensure prevention practitioners are operating within the guidelines.
Please note: this training will meet the requirement for those interested in pursuing an OCPSA certification, or for those renewing an OCPSA, OCPS, OCPC certification. Please note: for those interested in obtaining an OCPS or OCPC designation, 6.0 contact hours of ethics is required.
Learning Objectives:
- Be knowledgeable about the Ohio’s Code of Ethics for Prevention Professionals
- Have a process for determining whether actions are ethical
- Know where and how to report unethical actions

Lead Trainer: Claire Spada, OCPC, ICPS
Claire is the Director of Workforce Development for Problem Gambling Network of Ohio. She has over 15 years of experience working in the prevention field in varying capacities and is an Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant. She has a passion for educating others on issues that can greatly impact their lives including drug, alcohol, and gambling prevention, coping with emotions in a positive way, and empowering young people in leadership roles. In her current role, Claire maintains oversight of all PGNO training, agency service consultation, community prevention programs, ADAMHS board and provider outreach and the Ohio Problem Gambling Conference.
This training provides an overview of ethical principles and standards that guide professional counseling practice. Participants will explore key ethical principles, decision-making models, and real-world scenarios to enhance their understanding of how to navigate complex ethical dilemmas. The session will cover core topics such as confidentiality, dual relationships, informed consent, cultural competence, self-care, and professional boundaries.

Jesse Wodrig, MBA, LCDCIII-GAMB, ICGC-I, OCPSA, is currently the Director of Clinical Programs at Problem Gambling Network of Ohio (PGNO). He is involved in the coordination and delivery of services through Ohio Gambling Telehealth Network, Warm Transfer available through the Ohio Problem Gambling Helpline, and clinical training offered by PGNO. Prior to joining PGNO, Jesse had worked in areas including case management, counseling, and administration in the substance use disorder services field.
