No. NCPG will schedule your appointments for you and provide you with a meeting schedule for Virtual Problem Gambling Advocacy Day. However, if you have a personal connection to your Member of Congress or a member of their staff, please let us know through the registration process.
Advocates are assigned to teams of 3–6, led by an experienced Team Leader, and will have 2–5 virtual meetings with offices representing their state. Advocates will take turns sharing information and personal anecdotes with congressional staff and provide factsheets and other resources for staffers.
No, this is not a partisan event. Virtual Problem Gambling Advocacy Day is an opportunity to educate the elected officials from your state. Even if you did not personally vote for them, they should hear from you!
We want to make sure that all advocates are prepared. During the training, we will review the policy requests, walk through what to expect on Virtual Problem Gambling Advocacy Day and give you a chance to meet your team and practice together before your meetings.
We ask advocates to commit to participating in activities from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET. We start the day with a 30-minute rally session, then teams meet for 30 minutes. Meetings with congressional offices are scheduled between 12:00 PM and 4:30 PM ET and we end the day with a 30 minute debrief session.
