Join us at the Nevada State Conference on Problem Gambling, our annual convening designed to build skills, strengthen partnerships, and improve Nevada’s response to problem gambling.
This conference brings together stakeholders across prevention, education, research, government, the gaming industry, the recovery community, and addiction and mental health services. We encourage anyone with interest in this topic to join us at this event.
Registration includes Continuing Education Units (CEUs), breakfast, lunch, and refreshment breaks throughout the conference. The Nevada Council on Problem Gambling is an approved Continuing Education Provider recognized by the Nevada Board of Examiners for Alcohol, Drug, and Gambling Counselors and the International Problem Gambling and Gaming Certification Organization. CEU applications will also be submitted to additional Nevada professional boards.

With the recent legalization of Sports betting in Kansas there has been an explosive rise in online gambling and increased casino gambling options for Kansans. Gambling addiction is rapidly emerging as one of the most overlooked yet devastating behavioral health issues facing Kansas Communities. Gambling Disorder has the highest suicide rate of any clinical population, is complex, often misunderstood, underdiagnosed, and undertreated.
This in-depth continuing education workshop offers a comprehensive look at gambling disorder, equipping participants with the knowledge and tools to better recognize, assess, and address this increasingly prevalent addiction. Stage I: Gambling, Problem Gambling, and Ohio’s Service System

Schedule: This virtual training will run on Wednesday, April 1 – Friday, April 3, 2026. Each day the session will run from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM EST, with a 1-hour break from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM. All three days will have 4 hours of content, totaling 12 hours.
Course Description: Stage I provides 12 continuing education hours of gambling specific education that will increase participants’ knowledge and understanding of the current climate of gambling and gambling expansion, problem gambling risks and warning signs, at-risk populations and co-morbidities of problem gambling with substance abuse and mental illness.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will understand problem gambling definitions and current statistics
Participants will recognize current trends and dates specific to Ohio’s gambling and gaming landscape
Participants will learn the risks and warning signs of problematic gambling
Participants will understand comorbidities of gambling addiction, substance abuse, and mental illness
Participants will become familiar with screening tools to identify gambling addiction
Participants will become familiar with support services and available resources

Claire Spada is the Director of Workforce Development for PGNO. She has over 15 years of experience working in the prevention field in varying capacities and is an Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant. She has a passion for educating others on issues that can greatly impact their lives including drug, alcohol, and gambling prevention, coping with emotions in a positive way, and empowering young people in leadership roles. In her current role, Claire provides gambling funds guidance and support for Boards and Providers, oversees PGNO education and trainings, and manages community prevention programming.
Olivia Burris is the Intake Coordinator for Ohio Gambling Telehealth Network. She helps clients navigate the gambling support service system and connects them with local resources. She is passionate about helping those in need in her personal and professional life and spends time volunteering with individuals in recovery from substance use.

Have you ever wondered what happens on a call to the National Problem Gambling Helpline? In this live AMA event, Valerie Tebbetts, IGRS, BARA, a helpline operator from the National Problem Gambling Helpline Network, will provide insights and answer questions about the call experience – from the first point of contact to how privacy is protected and callers are connected to local treatment, and recovery resources. Participants will leave with a clearer picture of what callers experience and how the helpline provides support.

The National Council on Problem Gambling, in collaboration with key partners and researchers from the Omni Institute, analyzed three years of National Problem Gambling Helpline™ data to identify key trends in help-seeking behavior. This webinar will present findings from the analysis, which reviewed traffic patterns, contact volume and modality, demographics, and other indicators.
Presenters will explore key emerging trends, including shifts in demand, evolving access pathways, and the influence of policy and market changes, such as the expansion of online sports betting. These insights will be used to inform ongoing efforts to strengthen service quality, and alignment between states, providers, and partners in addressing emerging needs.

It is a place where you can exchange your ideas, experiences, and knowledge to become a collective voice in raising awareness and developing programs and services that have the greatest positive impact.
Join Kim Freudenberg, the mother of a young person impacted by gambling addiction, for an open conversation about what it means to support a child through gambling-related harm. Drawing from her lived experience, Kim will share insights into the emotional, financial, and relational impacts gambling addiction can have on parents and caregivers. This interactive Ask Me Anything session will explore the realities of recognizing harm, navigating treatment and recovery systems, advocating for appropriate care, and seeking support as a loved one, with attendees encouraged to bring questions and engage in a candid dialogue centered on the parent experience.

Stage II: Applications and Approaches in Treating Gambling Disorder

Schedule: This virtual training will run on Wednesday, May 6 – Friday, May 8. Each day the session will run from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM EST with a 1-hour break from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM. Each day will consist of 4 hours of content totaling 12 hours.
Course description: This workshop builds on the Stage I training, aimed at conceptualization, treatment planning and treatment delivery for those presenting with problem gambling and gambling disorder. Best practice models of care for gambling issues will be reviewed. The workshop will be interactive, with large and small group exercises aimed at increasing competencies for gambling treatment.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will learn assessment tools and protocols designed specifically for gambling treatment
Participants will learn culturally sensitive treatment protocols designed for treating gambling and reducing gambling harm
Participants will review potential ethical dilemmas when working with clients presenting with gambling issues
Who Should Attend: Treatment professionals looking to specialize in treating gambling disorder

Lead Trainers: Jesse Wodrig, MBA, LCDCIII-GAMB, OCPSA and Katrina Arroyo, M.Ed., LPCC, LICDC-GAMB
Jesse Wodrig is the Director of Clinical Programs for PGNO. Jesse has worked in the treatment services field for 10 years primarily working with clients living with substance use disorders. He has both direct service and administrative experience in this field. Starting in 2020, he started trainings to build competency to assist clients living with gambling disorders, and this has become his primary professional interest. As the Director of Clinical Programs, Jesse heads efforts to connect clients to telehealth services for assistance in treating gambling disorders while also facilitating occasional trainings.
Katrina Arroyo, M.Ed, LPCC, LICDC-GAMB, ICGC-I earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kent State University in 2017. With a strong foundation in behavioral health, Katrina has developed a specialized focus on problem gambling. She currently serves as the Manager of Clinical Programs at the Problem Gambling Network of Ohio, where she supports statewide efforts to expand access to quality gambling treatment, training, and clinical support.
