This webinar will explore empathetic and comprehensive strategies for discussing gambling and sports betting with young people. Presenter and Community Educator Brittany Sue Hines will delve into the neuroscience behind teen addiction and decision-making, explaining why youth are especially vulnerable to gambling-related issues. Attendees will learn evidence-based communication strategies that promote awareness and informed choices, and will have the opportunity to review new research collected from pre-professional young athletes from Major League Soccer Academies across the United States.

The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) will host a forum on December 18, 2025 to provide updates on the National Problem Gambling Helpline™ Modernization Project and gather feedback from key stakeholders. This forum will offer a comprehensive overview of the project’s progress, highlighting successes, addressing challenges, and outlining the next steps.
Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences, and provide suggestions to help shape the next phase of the helpline’s modernization, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of individuals and communities impacted by gambling harm, while also supporting the efforts of engaged partners.
This event is free, but registration is required.
Choose between two training options available:
- Gambling Counselor Core Training – 30 CE hours, including 10-hour self-directed component and 20-hour live webinar component
- Advanced Training in Behavioral Health – up to 16 CE hours

Up to 30 CE hours available; Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling is an Approved Provider of Continuing Education by The Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC), and the International Gambling Counselor Certification Board (IGCCB). Our workshops have also been approved for continuing education by the Mental Health Addictions Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO), and the American Academy of Healthcare Providers in the Addictive Disorders (AAHCPAD).
