WASHINGTON, DC – The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), an advocacy organization for people and families affected by gambling addiction, has announced the selection of Brianne Doura as Legislative Director. Doura will fill the recently created role, leading the organization’s legislative outreach as well as serving as a liaison to NCPG state affiliates as they develop their own grassroots advocacy strategies.

“Brianne joins our national headquarters after most recently serving as Director of Policy and Communications at the Massachusetts Council on Compulsive Gambling,” says Executive Director Keith Whyte. “I’m proud to welcome Brianne to NCPG and eager for her to hit the ground running. Having worked on a diverse portfolio of problem gambling related policy issues over the last several years, Brianne’s extensive knowledge and congressional experience, coupled with prior legislative achievements, will certainly add value to our legislative operation and our team’s ability to make a difference on behalf of people with gambling problems.”

“It is an honor to join the NCPG team as the organization’s first Legislative Director, and I look forward to serving as an advocate for problem gamblers and their loved ones,” said Doura. “I am excited to begin work on creating meaningful relationships, spreading awareness and advocating for long term, impactful infrastructure that will change the way both federal and state governments approach problem gambling.”

As Legislative Director, Doura will oversee NCPG’s legislative operations and will be instrumental in the organization’s ability to advance its priorities both nationally and on a state level. Prior to her time at the Massachusetts Council, Ms. Doura was Associate Director of Operations & Development at the National Association of Development Companies (NADCO) in McLean, Virginia. Brianne holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Mary Washington.
