The National Conference on Gambling Addiction & Responsible Gambling 2023 exists for the enjoyment and comfort of all attendees. By registering for and attending the conference, you agree voluntarily to abide by these rules of conduct, and you understand that the National Council on Problem Gambling (conference organizer) relies on your cooperation, courtesy, and good judgment. The conference staff will take action under these rules if the behavior of any individual or group either disturbs attendees or detracts from the atmosphere of the conference.
Any action or behavior that causes excessive discomfort to other attendees, adversely affects NCPG’s relationship with its attendees, its venues or the public, breaks any applicable law, code or regulation or causes significant disruption to conference operations is strictly forbidden and may result in NCPG asking you to leave the conference and possibly not being able to return in future years.

The health and safety of all attendees is paramount at the National Conference on Gambling Addiction & Responsible 2023 Gambling Main Conference & Workshops which will take place in Washington, DC. All participants, including, but not limited to, attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, NCPG staff, service providers and vendors are expected to abide by our COVID Event Safety Policies leading up to and for the duration of the conference.
The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) continues to monitor and update safety precautions and coordinate implementation of these safety measures with trusted national resources, state and local public health agencies, and the hotel and venues hosting conference events. NCPG reserves the right to modify these policies and procedures at any time and without prior notice. NCPG shall provide prompt notice of any amendments to its policies and procedures on its website as changes are made.

NCPG strongly encourages individuals to be tested for COVID-19 prior to traveling to the National Conference on Gambling Addiction & Responsible Gambling 2023. Individuals who test positive for COVID on or after July 20, 2023, shall not attend. They must contact NCPG regarding canceling their registration as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours. Full refunds on conference registration for any sessions not attended are available to attendees who test positive on or after July 20 and on-site.
Anyone who tests positive during the conference will be required to surrender their conference badge and will not be allowed to attend any further events. They are asked to quarantine themselves but are eligible for a registration refund upon request.

If no one has yet sounded an alarm, that means you should. Then find the closest set of stairs and proceed outside. Do not use the elevators! Take a look at the hotel map in the Attendee Booklet to note where the stairs are located. Check the fire escape plans posted on all floors and in your room. If you are unable to use the stairs, wait against the wall outside the nearest stairwell for first responders to assist you.
You are responsible for your children and their behavior. You or another responsible adult designated by you must accompany all children 12 and under while they are in the conference.
The use of alcohol is prohibited in all public areas of the conference (excluding the bar and restaurant areas). The legal age to buy and consume alcoholic beverages in D.C. is 21. Anyone who knowingly provides alcoholic beverages to a minor will be expelled from the conference and reported to local authorities. You agree to drink responsibly if you drink at all.
Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the conference hotel.
Weapons, whether concealed or open, are inappropriate and strictly prohibited.
Harassment is generally any behavior that annoys, alarms, or threatens another person or group. This includes unwanted physical contact, following someone around a public area without their consent, or threatening to physically attack someone. If you approach someone and they tell you “no” or to leave them alone, you must do so and have no further contact. If you aren’t sure what constitutes harassment, err on the side of caution and restrict your contact. If you fail to honor their response, they may have a legitimate complaint of harassment.
If you have been harassed, please report the matter to any conference staff. This number will also be posted at Registration after hours. Please remember that we need to know about any incidents during the conference to be able to take immediate action.
If you have been the victim of criminal conduct and feel safe doing so, please notify the local police immediately and, if necessary, seek medical attention. Contact a conference representative or hotel staff if you need help seeking medical attention.

By participating in the National Conference on Gambling Addiction & Responsible Gambling 2023, the registrant hereby waives and releases NCPG and its officers, directors, employees, agents and insurers from all claims, demands, action and rights (contingent, accrued, inchoate or otherwise), which may arise out of, or in connection with, the participant’s assumption of risks by attending or participating in any or all events and/or activities engaged in by the registrant while attending the conference, whether such claim is based upon NCPG’s active or passive negligence or otherwise.
In addition, the registrant agrees to defend and hold NCPG harmless from and against any and all claims, liabilities, expenses, damages, losses, causes of action and suits (including, without limitation, attorneys’ fees and costs) arising out of, or any way related to, the registrant’s attendance at the above-referenced conference and/or any activity engaged in by the registrant while attending the conference, whether such claim is based upon NCPG’s active or passive negligence or otherwise.
The registrant hereby gives permission to NCPG to use any photographs, videos and/or audio recordings of the registrant for promotional materials, without expectation of compensation, including but not limited to any royalties, proceeds and/or other benefits derived from such photographs, videos or audio recordings.

Almost everyone who comes to the conference has a cell phone, and almost everyone with a cell phone has a camera. Video and audio recording and photography for personal archival use only is generally okay unless individuals make it clear that they do not wish to be photographed or filmed, in which case any photography or recording of them is expressly forbidden.
You agree to be solely responsible for clearing any and all rights and permissions for any use(s) you might make of the photographs, recordings, transcripts, and similar material you take from the conference.
You agree to permit NCPG to use any photographs, videos and/or audio recordings for promotional materials without expectation of compensation, including, but not limited to, any royalties, proceeds, and/or other benefits derived from such photographs, videos or audio recordings.
The convention hotel meets ADA guidelines. Accessibility-related concerns and requests should be communicated to NCPG Operations Manager Lissa Cobetto (lissc@ncpgambling.org) in a timely manner before the conference. We will let you know as soon as possible whether we will be able to accommodate your request. We cannot always accommodate every accessibility request.
NCPG cannot make the conference allergen-free.
Please write any pertinent medical information on the back of your badge.
Please walk in groups whenever you’re outside the hotel after dark. Lock your hotel room and check the door peephole if anyone knocks. Safety is everyone’s responsibility, including yours.
The Relaxation & Wellness Room will be available to conference attendees. Relaxing activities are available for attendees to catch their breath, listen to their heartbeat, and meditate. If there’s someone waiting for a space, please yield yours after 30 minutes.
All members are required to abide by the hotel’s rules and policies.
The only animals allowed in the conference are service animals.
