What is your Interest in serving on the Board? What skills can you bring to the Board?
Having worked in the field of gambling and responsible gambling for nearly 30 years I have been involved in research, treatment, prevention, training and most importantly in public policy. Working closely with the NCPG for the past decade has been both an honor and privilege. I remain committed to helping individuals with gambling problems and incorporating evidence-based knowledge in our responsible gambling/harm minimization approaches. I welcome the opportunity to help contribute to the important work and public policy initiatives proposed by the NCPG.

I have been a member of the prevention committee and Board Member

What ideas and experience do you have that can help NCPG grow its membership and fundraising?
I have numerous contacts acquired during my research with gaming operators and should be able to assist with fundraising.

How long have you been a member of NCPG and what led you to join initially?
Many years. The interest of colleagues in promoting wellness among problem gamblers and their families led me to join.

Biographical Statement
Dr. Derevensky, is a Professor in School/Applied Child Psychology and Professor, Department of Psychiatry at McGill University, is Director of the International Centre for Youth Gambling Problems and High-Risk Behaviors and holds multiple adjunct appointments at several universities. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the area of adolescent risky behaviours, gambling and gaming. He has been the author or co-author of four books, over 60 book chapters, in excess of 250 peer-reviewed scientific papers, and has been the keynote speaker and has presented over 400 presentations at national and international conferences. Dr. Derevensky has testified before numerous legislative committees in the U.S., Canada, Europe, South Korea, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. Dr. Derevensky and his research team have developed multiple award winning gambling-related prevention programs which are currently being used internationally. He has been the editor, co-editor or on the editorial board for numerous journals and is a frequent guest reviewer for articles for journals in the field of neuropsychology, psychology, psychiatry, education, and prevention science. Dr. Derevensky has been a board member of the NCPG for the past 3 years.
