    McGill University’s International Centre for Youth Gambling Problems and High-Risk Behaviors in collaboration with the National Council on Problem Gambling presents The Raschkowan Lecture Series – Gambling During a Digital Revolution.

    Join Dr. Henrietta Bowden-Jones, President of Psychiatry, Royal Society of Medicine; Director, National Centre for Behavioural Addictions, UK (National Problem Gambling Clinic and National Centre for Gaming Disorder), for an exclusive webinar presentation called, “Gambling Disorder in the Digital Age: A UK Overview” on Thursday,  February 24, 2022, from noon to 1:00 pm Eastern Time.

    Bowden-Jones will examine the UK gambling landscape; the size of their problem gambling challenges; and the issues faced by both politicians and clinicians in dealing with technology as a means to both providing gambling opportunities and blocking gambling activities. The recent government Review of the 2005 Gambling Act will also be discussed.  

    Bowden-Jones is a medical doctor and neuroscience researcher working as a consultant psychiatrist in addictions while leading two national clinics in the UK. She was appointed Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2019 New Year’s Honours for Services to Addiction Treatment and Research. Bowden-Jones is the current President of Psychiatry, Royal Society of Medicine (2020-2022) as well as the Founding Director of the National Problem Gambling Clinic, the first NHS treatment centre in the UK for the treatment of problem gamblers which she established in 2008. She also holds many national and international awards including Psychiatrist of the Year – 2020 Award from the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
