    December 14, 2021 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Join Michelle L. Malkin, JD, PhD,  Assistant Professor, Department of Justice, East Carolina University, for an exclusive 60-minute webinar that explores the experiences of people who have a history of problem gambling. Anonymous surveys were analyzed for types of legal consequences people faced due to their gambling. Findings allow for a fuller understanding of the different ways compulsive gamblers have been involved in the legal and criminal justice system, primarily for acquisitional crimes to support gambling and pay off gambling-related debts. Results are also considered based on gender. Additionally, Dr. Malkin shares her own story of consequences due to a history of gambling. The presentation includes suggestions for counselors and others who have clients who may have been involved in gambling-motivated crimes.
