Massachusetts Council on Gaming and Health presents: Mindful Self-Compassion for our Clients and Ourselves by Dr. Lori Rugle
Mindfulness Based Interventions for the treatment of addictive and mental health disorders have been increasingly supported by evidence as a best practice. Mindful Self-Compassion focused therapy provides a focus that emphasizes helping clients struggling with problematic gambling to develop a sense of kindness, warmth and emotional responsiveness to themselves as they face the challenges of recovery. It also speaks to issues such as shame and stigma. Mindfulness based self-compassion practices not only apply to our clients but can be used by clinicians and other providers. This workshop will present an overview of Mindfulness and Compassion based therapies in the context of gambling disorder. Attendees will be offered an interactive exploration of mindfulness and self-compassion practices that can be utilized in the treatment of gambling disorder and as part of self-care as clinicians.
