Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling 24th Annual Conference – “Celebrating 30 Years Through Awareness, Education, and Prevention”

Host: Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling

Our 24th Annual Statewide Problem Gambling Conference is scheduled for March 16-17, 2023, at The Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Our goal for the conference is to bring together various groups from all areas of the state including tribal and state representatives, counselors, therapists, educators, and criminal justice personnel to strive as a unified community to lower the number of negative statistics associated with problem gambling.

30-Hour Basic Training for Problem Gambling: Day 1 OAPGG

As the opportunities for gambling continue to increase through avenues such as online gambling and gaming and sports betting, the risk that an individual will develop a gambling problem increases as well. As a care provider, you may be working with someone who is struggling with gambling.

OAPGG offers a 4-day online 30-hour basic training for problem gambling twice per year. This evidence-based basic training course is designed to help counselors, peer support specialists, and others in building an understanding of gambling addiction. In this training, you will learn about gambling history, gambling technology, the theoretical basis for treatment, co-occurring disorders, multicultural issues, assessment tools, treatment modalities, and more.

Training includes:

12 consultation sessions included at no cost
Prep class for those taking the IGCCB exam or state certification
(There will be fees associated with the IGCCB exam or state certification. Check with your state for credentialing requirements; basic information is listed at the bottom of the page.)
Resources and workbook for counselors

Nevada State Conference on Problem Gambling

Host: Nevada Council on Problem Gambling

The Nevada State Conference on Problem Gambling is an annual professional education and networking event addressing this significant community health issue that affects as many as 6% of Nevada adults. The conference attracts addiction and mental health professionals and interested stakeholder groups including Prevention, Education, Research, Government, Gaming Industry and the Recovery Community.

Webinar: Black Women’s Recovery Journey

Panel will be moderated by Dr. Sandra Adell. Learning Objectives are:

Educate: To provide research-based information about gambling problems and related mental health issues such as depression in the Black community.

2023 CCGP Statewide West Conference

Spring Training Institute: Foundations in Gambling Disorder (MACGH)

Time: 12pm-3:45pm EST; April 27 & 29; May 2, 3, 9, 11,16,18 &23, 2023

Description:
Hidden problems with gambling often derail recovery from mental health and substance use disorders as signs and symptoms are often missed. The goal of the MA Council on Compulsive Gambling’s Training Institute: Foundations in Gambling Disorder is to increase the number of trained service providers in the treatment and service of Gambling Disorders, increase community access to comprehensive and competent care, increase service & treatment delivery, and improve treatment outcomes. The 30.0 Clock Hours/Continuing Education Units provides foundational knowledge of gambling disorder for providers in behavioral health settings that can be applied towards the Gaming Health Specialist Certificate.

Problem Gambling Advocacy Day 2023

Problem gambling and responsible gambling advocates from across the country will convene in Washington, D.C. for the National Council on Problem Gambling’s Advocacy Day. Problem Gambling Advocacy Day brings together key stakeholders in a grassroots effort to highlight the importance of developing strong public policies relating to problem gambling and appropriating the necessary funding for education, research, treatment and prevention.

30-Hour Basic Training for Problem Gambling
Oct 6 @ 8:30 am – Nov 10 @ 4:30 pm

OAPGG is hosting an online, live basic training for counselors seeking certification for problem gambling. The training will take place over four days: October 6 and 13 and November 3 and 10, 2023. Each day will begin at 8:30 and end at 4:30, with a one-hour break for lunch.

Registration is free for those in the Midwest Conference on Problem Gambling and Substance Abuse region (Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma), with funding from the Kansas City Port Authority Problem Gambling Fund Advisory Committee. For those outside the MCPGSA region, the cost of the training is $300.

Participants who complete the training will receive 30 hours of CEUs and will be eligible to join the case consultation group.
