 dramatic shift in the past 10 years in both the substance abuse and mental
  health fields.  Not only are the providers recognizing the importance of 
 integrating treatment for alcohol\, drug and tobacco use\, but the need to
  provide co-occurring disorder treatment for both substance use and mental
  health disorders.  However\, the screening\, assessment and treatment of 
 problem gambling often falls through the cracks\, even in well-developed c
 o-occurring disorder enhanced programs.  This training will focus on how i
 ntegration of services can be developed in substance use\, mental health a
 nd co-occurring disorder programs as well as in the prevention services re
 alm.  Participants will be encouraged to adapt select philosophies and str
 ategies into their own programs.  This training is relevant to both treatm
 ent and prevention\, and will include lecture\, small and large group disc

  providers interested in learning about working with military members and 
 veterans with gambling problems and their families. The participants will 
 gain knowledge of the five branches of service\, their missions\, and trad
 itions. Research suggests that the rate of problem gambling is higher amon
 g military personnel than that of the general population. Problem gambling
  tends to co-occur with other disorders that have elevated rates among tho
 se who have served in the military\, such as substance abuse\, intimate pa
 rtner violence (IPV)\, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)\, depression\
 , and suicide. While there is an abundance of opportunities for veterans a
 nd enlisted personnel to gamble\, many members of the military do not have
  access to treatment for gambling problems and may face disciplinary actio
 n for seeking help. Participants will also become familiar with various se
 rvices and interventions that are beneficial to military members and veter

 t and Child Partial Hospitalization Programs at Baystate Medical Center an
 d teaches in the MSW program of Westfield State University. Baxter receive
 d a bachelor’s degree in psychology from St. Andrew’s College in North Car
 olina and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Georgia. For 26
  years he has worked with people dealing with mental health and substance 
 use disorders in a variety of treatment settings including medical units\,
  crisis programs\, partial hospital programs\, and outpatient behavioral h

 g” has shifted dramatically in recent years. In this training\, participan
 ts will gain an understanding of recent and emerging trends in gaming and 
 how these trends have blurred the lines between how we have defined gaming
  and gambling.</p>\n<p><strong>Learning Objectives: </strong></p>\n<p>At t
 he end of the training\, participants will be able to:</p>\n<p>• Describe 
 at least three recent trends in youth video gaming and gambling</p>\n<p>• 
 Identify risk and protective factors\, as well as specific youth vulnerabl

 >Julie Hynes has over 16 years of experience in addictions prevention and 
 program coordination. Her passions include community education\, leadershi

 ith Families Affected by Gambling Disorder</strong></span></p>\n<p>This co
 urse will focus on helping clinicians learn how to engage and treat the en
 tire family of problem gamblers and begin the path of recovery from this a
 ddiction. All aspects of the effects on family members will be discussed\,
  including the financial impact on the family\, the emotional ramification
 s\, including trust\, and the psychological consequences for many family m
 embers. Often\, family members are left untreated with serious\, painful e
 ffects from their loved ones’ gambling. While the financial impact is the 
 most obvious\, the other effects\, including severe depression\, trauma an
 d an inability to function\, are often present as well.</p>\n<p><strong>Le
 arning Objectives: </strong></p>\n<p>At the end of the training\, particip
 ants will be able to:</p>\n<p>• Identify symptoms of problem gambling and 
 be able to understand the impact this addiction may have on family members
 </p>\n<p>• Interview\, assess\, refer\, and treat members of the gamblers 
 family members who may be affected by the gambling problems</p>\n<p>• Prov
 ide a safe\, therapeutic environment for growth and understanding of famil
 y members of problem gamblers as they work through the issues in themselve
 s and their family</p>\n<p>Dot Duda\, M. ED LMHC has over thirty years tre
 ating substance abuse and twenty plus years treating those with a Gambling
  Disorder. She is the former Director of Outpatient Psychiatry and addicti
 ons at Mount Auburn hospital and is currently in private practice. Additio
 nally\, Dot is a member of the New Hampshire Council on Compulsive Gamblin
 g Board of Directors. She graduated from Cambridge College\, Cambridge MA 
 with a Master’s in Education\, Psychology/Counseling.</p>\n<p>For more inf
