To outsiders (e.g.\, family\, friends)\, the gambling behavi or that coincides with a diagnosis of gambling disorder is difficult to co mprehend. How can losing thousands of dollars be fun? Why would someone do such a thing? This webinar will explore the functionality of gambling beh avior in the context of individuals diagnosed with gambling disorder. It w ill discuss motivations for gambling\, needs that gambling meets\, whether gambling is a volitional act\, and subtypes of individuals with a gamblin g problem. The webinar will conclude with a brief review of how to assess the functionality of gambling through a functional analysis.
