| VISITORS INFORMATION |
|
- Portland Rose Festival: One of Portland’s premier events is the Portland Rose Festival which runs May 28 -June13th. Check out all the events available during your stay at www.rosefestival.org. The Grand Floral Parade will take place Saturday, June 12th. Please visit the parade website for parade info including road closures. Additional information can also be found in the FAQ section.
- Portland Oregon Tourist & Vacation Information: Visitors to Portland will love the combination of a progressive, sophisticated and happening city, with nature right out its front door. With over seven million visitors annually, there is destination appeal of a broad scope. Portland is a big city with a small town feel (often compared to many European cities and towns in that regard). Portland is cultured but natural; hip, yet unpretentious. The population of Portland is a little over 600,000 with about 2 million in the greater metro area.
The ease of getting around (no need to rent cars) makes Portland affordable and relaxing for convention delegates. When attendees or their families have free time, they can hop on MAX Light Rail to go to Washington Park (location of the Oregon Zoo, World Forestry Discovery Museum, Rose Gardens and Japanese gardens). Other urban tour options include a waterfront stroll around the river, taking a river cruise, visiting the Chinese Classical Gardens, taking a ride on the new scenic Tram, or dining in the famous Pearl District (the couture arts and cultural district of Portland’s neighboring downtown) and visiting Powell’s Books.
Take a few steps outside the urban arena, and you will find attendees want to stay in Portland pre/post official conference dates. Portland is in close proximity to the Oregon Coast (rugged, yet beautiful), the Willamette Valley Vineyards (where our Pinot Noirs are some of the best in the world), to the Columbia River Gorge (compared to the Fjords of Norway) and stunning Mt. Hood (with year round skiing and scenic hikes).
