Colorado Casino Gambling Down Even With Bad Economy

(Casino Gambling Web - Tampa,FL,USA)- There is a strong sentiment around the country that economic hard times brings more problem gambling. Experts will claim that people try and get financial freedom by gambling, but revenue figures from casinos around the country do not support this claim.

The state of Colorado is the latest state that has reported revenue decreases for their casinos in the month of February. While the decline was not drastic, it did nothing to prove that people are, indeed, gambling more.

In February of 2008, casino revenue in Colorado was $57.9 million. For this February, the figure slipped ever so slightly to $57.3 million. While it is only a decrease of 1.1 percent, it was enough to disprove the theory of problem gambling becoming more prevalent.

There was good news at some casinos in the state. Cripple Creek casinos jumped over four percent from the same month in the previous year. They were also up three percent from last month. That was the extent of the good news in Colorado.

Central City casinos took the biggest drop. They fell eight percent from the previous year. Black Hawk casinos also dipped, although not as far at only two percent.

Of the February figures that have been released so far, most states have reported a decrease in revenue from 2008. The recession, contrary to what many believe to be true, is causing less gambling in the US, not more.
